Where Our Journey with “What the Flag” Truly Began
It started with a dive — and evolved into a movement. Belize wasn’t just a destination for us; it was where our What the Flag! initiative took flight and where we began to #TravelWithTravaly. As a Black-owned, flag-inspired fashion brand, we set out to fuse travel storytelling, cultural pride, and purposeful swimwear into bold designs that connect communities around the globe.
During our month-long stay in Placencia, a colorful coastal village full of rhythm and heart, we immersed ourselves in Belizean culture. We collaborated with local creatives, including photographer Morris, who helped bring our vision to life at the stunning Mayan King Waterfall. Shooting our Belize Flag One-Piece on Belize’s Independence Day created unforgettable moments. The symbolism of the Belizean flag — with two men representing labor, a shield for protection, and 50 olive leaves for peace — turned our swimsuit into more than just fashion. It became a story of resilience, identity, and pride.
This trip marked the beginning of our mission to visit each country featured in our collections and co-create with its people. It’s also how we invite you to join us in the journey — to celebrate culture through fashion, explore the world with intention, and proudly wear your roots.
